SUMMARY 

Detail and goal-oriented technology professional with experience managing all aspects of the IT infrastructure of an organization, including, but not limited to, Data Center optimization, LAN/WAN Network Infrastructure stabilization and improvement, Application throughput and performance, Disaster Recovery implementation and testing, needs assessment, budget allocation and management, vendor relationships and overall team and project management. Feb 04 – Present      Simpson, Thacher & Bartlett LLP NY

                                    Senior Systems/Network Administrator for Global Law Firm

 

§         Project Manager for complete WAN overhaul with branch office and head office connectivity incremented over 5x at one-quarter of our prior WAN costs resulting in an annual savings of over $500,000. Lead weekly progress meetings to ensure timely delivery of services and adherence to Service Level Agreements.

§         Planned, budgeted and implemented upgrade and redesign of company Data Center resulting in better cabling infrastructure, cost savings, heat and space management and network high-availability for over 200 production servers.

§         Designed and recommended VMWare virtual server infrastructure resulting in the consolidation of over 70 physical servers across 8 VMWare host servers.

§         Researched and evaluated Avaya and Cisco VoIP solutions for inter and intra-office communications to cut telecommunications costs.

§         Coordinated SONET ring implementation for 3 NY-area offices MAN to ensure failover access between 2 metro NY and 1 Disaster Recovery location.

§         Responsible for maintenance and continuous improvement of off-site Disaster Recovery plan and location with updates to senior management.

§         Upgraded primary company firewall from Nokia IP330 to Failover-enabled PIX 535’s with gigabit fiber Internet access and IPSEC VPN tunnels at a fraction of the cost of multiplexed T1 lines.

§         Designed and in the process of implementing Exchange 2003 and SQL 2005 Cluster environment for consolidation and high-availability on Windows 2003.

§         Implemented EMC CX700 SAN infrastructure with NS704G data movers for NAS access to reduce file servers and improve storage capacity.

§         Spearheaded Wireless LAN access across entire building’s 25 floors in head office and across branch offices for client-access to the Internet using Cisco Aironet 1200 series AP’s.

§         Performed candidate review and selection for various positions within the Infrastructure support group.

§         Managed team of contractors and employees regarding daily network and desktop support/deployment issues.

§         Responsible for network upgrade budgeting, planning, scheduling, implementation and testing on a Cisco switched network utilizing Catalyst 6500, 6000 and 5500 series switches

§         Implemented Microsoft.NET environment using SQL Server, Commerce Server, Content Management Server, BizTalk Server, SharePoint Portal and Microsoft Solution for Internet Business on 25 Development and Production servers in an Active Directory and Exchange 2000 infrastructure.

§         Monitored and managed approximately 40 MS SQL and Oracle production and development databases.

§         Implemented an enterprise backup solution using Tivoli Storage Manager in conjunction with a SAN solution provided by the IBM Shark system and Brocade Fibre-Channel Switches.

§         Managed LUN allocation and high-availability for AS/400 IBM mainframe systems for client access.

§         Implemented Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server for secure publishing of internal web servers on the public Internet through a DMZ setup.

§         Implemented LAN security using Cisco PIX solutions and VLAN’s.

§         Installed, configured and maintained 100+ servers based on the Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000 operating systems on Compaq Proliant, Dell Poweredge and IBM x-series servers for the New York Advanced Development Center.

§         Developed Lotus Notes 5.0 to Exchange 2000 migration strategies and project plan.

§         Performed framework initiation and deployment for Oracle Financials ERP implementation for workflow management throughout company.

§         Implemented and supported pilot groups for various Electronic Document Management Systems in the organization.

§         Consultant for the New York City School Construction Authority as member of NT/Network Systems Architecture and Administration group, IT Department. Supported an environment of approximately 1000 workstations, 50 Servers.

§         Migrated Cabletron routers and hubs to CISCO 100Mbps Catalyst 5500 switches and Internet Routers (Cisco 3640) and Firewalls.

§         Managed migration of network users of the SCA from Novell Intranetware to Windows NT 4.0 Workstations.

§         Successfully implemented conversion of HP Jet Direct Printers from Novell to NT Print queues.
